Traditional Iron Japanese Oni Mask
-----Description-----
Oni (鬼) are probably the most common supernatural beings in Japanese cosmology and are depicted as rampaging, violent, and cruel. Almost always depicted with horns, their faces are typically pink, red, or blue-grey.
Genrally, oni are fearsome supernatural creatures; they have been described as the guardians of Buddhist Hell, demons who serve as torturers there, carrying out the punishments issued by the queen of Hell to the convicted souls that find themselves judged for their evil deeds in life. They are also described as pranksters, devourers of humans, hunters of sinners, and bringers of disease and epidemics.
