Traditional Wooden Japanese Kojyo Mask
-----Description-----
The Kojyo (小尉) mask is just one example of the many different types of masks used by the traditional Japanese actors of Noh theater. Noh performances are very stylized representations of traditional and well-known stories developed in Japan during the 14th century.
The actor wears the Kojo (小尉) mask, portraying the old man in the first part of "Takasago" and in other Noh plays. In the play's second part, the mask embodies dignity and divinity as a god.
